Get a Water Bottle

That National Geographic article above includes a couple of other interesting numbers, too: It takes a plastic bottle at least 450 years to degrade, yet we only recycle 30% of them in the U.S. Ouch.
Recycling plastic is better for the environment than not recycling it, so that’s a good place to start. But recycling aluminum is more efficient than recycling plastic, so if you have a choice, opt for an aluminum container.
What’s better than recycling? Reducing and reusing! For all of the delicious hydration with none of the landfill or costs of recycling, bring your own water bottle.
Added benefits:
If you use a water bottle that isn’t plastic, you won’t have to worry about potentially harmful chemicals leaching into your water.
Again according to National Geographic, “Bottled water requires up to 2,000 times the energy used to produce tap water.”
Your tap water is likely better regulated and thus safer (unless you’ve been notified otherwise) than bottled water.
You’ll save money on water. Water should be free.
With the right water bottle, you can show off your style or your favorite organization.
So find a reusable bottle that fits your lifestyle and start using it!
